Although I only stayed there for 2 and half weeks, Peru has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. I went to Peru to visit my girlfriend Patty who I met on the train 8 month ago in Switzerland. She lives in Lima and invited me to come and visit her.
I flew to Peru with Iberia via Madrid. The flight from Europe is very long and tiring and takes 12 hours at the least.

KLM (best option, but one stop in the Caribbean)
Lufthansa (unpleasant change of airlines in Caracas)
US airlines (transit in US for citizens of many countries only possible with a visa )

The airport is in renovation and when you arrive you are channelled through costumes and into the main arrival hall. There you are met by hundreds of people relatives of pasangers, tourist representatives from hotels and travel agencies and taxi drivers. Take your time don?t jump into the first taxi. And don?t book the first hotel room. Taxi drivers ask for 25 $ but I know they go down as far as 25 Soles or 8$.
